OED is Hiring a Student Communications Intern (Paid)!

The Office for Equity and Diversity (OED) is currently seeking a student to join our staff as our Communications Intern. Please see below and at the attached document for more info and application instructions.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Serve as a professional and positive representative of the Office for Equity & Diversity and the University.
2. Maintain the OED Facebook page, Twitter page, and other social media efforts.
3. Write feature stories for the OED homepage.
4. Curate OED photo and video assets.
5. Assist in the creation of marketing and advertising materials.
6. Coordinate focused outreach efforts to the campus community.
7. Other duties as assigned by the OED Director of Communications and/or a designee.

WORK STUDY REQUIRED. Students with demonstrated commitment to working with equity and diversity/social justice issues are encouraged to apply!

About the President's Emerging Scholars:

The President’s Emerging Scholars (PES) is a four-year program that supports undergraduate students with high potential at the University of Minnesota. The objective of the program is to empower students to take advantage of University resources in order to meet their academic, career and personal goals. 

About Peer Mentors:A Peer Mentor in the PES program provides leadership and models positive behavior for new students. Peer Mentors will work closely with PES staff, including college personnel, to support the success of PES students.

There are two primary components of the PES Program as follows:

Components:

1) A 5-day Summer Seminar, where Peer Mentors will lead small groups of students through a digital storytelling workshop

2) Student one-on-one meetings throughout the academic year

Applicants should indicate their preference for either (A) Components 1 & 2, or (B) Component 2 only.
